This 52nd edition of the Business in Britain report offers insights on the recent performance and expectations of domestic businesses. The survey is based on the responses of over 1,500 firms, especially small and medium-sized companies, drawn from all industries and all parts of the country.
In this latest report our survey shows that business confidence edges to a two-year high since the Brexit vote, with investment and hiring intentions remaining broadly steady. However, Brexit uncertainty and weaker UK demand remain the greatest risks in the short term.

Looking Ahead
The outlook for exports has improved. A net 27% of exporters
anticipate stronger exports in the next six months, up from 24% in
January. Companies expect the strongest demand to come from
the US, Europe and the Middle East while prospects are expected
to be the weakest in Russia and South America.
