What is an accounts and balances summary?

  • An accounts and balances summary provides you with an overview of how a selected group of your accounts is performing, so you can quickly see what actions need to be taken to effectively manage them.

    Current balance

    The Current balance shows the total balance for the account group as a whole, displayed in the currently selected display currency.

     Display currency

    The current balance will not be available for the account group created for you by Commercial Banking Online if you have more than 100 accounts. A message will be displayed to notify you that the current balance is unavailable.

    You can also view the current balance for individual accounts by:

    • placing your cursor over the account balance bar in the balance graph.

    Balance graph

    The Balance graph shows the group total and individual account balances, displayed by account number in a bar chart format so you can see at a glance how the accounts are performing individually and together in the group.

    You can use the balance graph to see individual account summaries and check account performance. Use the scroll buttons and zoom to display those parts of the graph that you’re most interested in.

    The Featured accounts table shows up to five accounts in the group in which you have a particular interest, for example, those accounts you need to monitor most closely or that are subject to a lot of balance fluctuation that you need to keep track of.

    You can edit an Accounts and balances summary to determine which accounts in the group are featured. You can also create a payment or transfer funds from a featured account.

    Accounts list

    The Accounts list table summarises the details of all the selected accounts within the group, as well as their current balances and any uncleared funds against the accounts.

    Native currency

    The native currency of an account is the currency in which the account is actually held. You can determine whether the accounts’ balances are shown in their native currency on an Accounts and balances summary by editing the account group’s settings for the summary. Please note currency equivalents of balances are for indicative purposes only.

    Display currency

    The display currency is the currency in which current balances are displayed whenever you view an Accounts and balances summary. You can select a default display currency when you create or edit an accounts and balances summary.

    You can also change the display currency while viewing an Accounts and balances summary by selecting a different currency from the drop-down list next to the Current balance.

    If you change the display currency in this way, the next time you view the summary, the currency will go back to the default display currency.

    Friendly account names

    Administrators can add friendly names for their organisation’s bank accounts in Commercial Banking Online, so that they’re more easily identifiable to users.

    If you are searching for accounts to add to an account group for an Accounts and balances summary, you cannot search for accounts by their friendly name. You must search for accounts by their registered account name instead.
