    Business systemic risk: managing the unmanageable

    In the new world some uncertainties are so big that the risk cannot be hedged financially, requiring instead Awareness Planning from the business strategy perspective.

    This workshop discussed how treasurers can help their business leaders better understand the financial impact of 'big events' and work with them to find the right balance between hedging and strategic positioning.

    The digital revolution is driving business innovation and growth but, in an increasingly digital world, organisations are exposed to new cyber threats.

    This workshop helped treasurers understand who the attackers are, their drivers, how they work and what attacks may look like. We also explored potential implications for your organisation, how to protect yourself, your business and your customers from cyber threats.

    Managing Director, Head of Syndicate & Corporate DCM

    Andrew joined Lloyds Bank in March 2010 and is Managing Director, Head of Bond Syndicate and Corp DCM, in the Capital Markets Division. The DCM team is responsible for origination of all public and private bond transactions and undertakes capital structuring and advisory roles for Lloyds Bank's corporate clients. The bond syndicate team is responsible for pricing and executing all public and private bond transactions for our sovereign, financial, corporate, ABS and high yield clients.

    Andrew has worked in financial services for nineteen years. He is a qualified chartered accountant and has diverse experience spanning corporate finance, portfolio management, credit sales and syndicate. Prior to joining Lloyds Andrew worked at Morgan Stanley, AIG, Gordian Knot and Ernst and Young

    Andrew graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1995. He is married with four children and lives in Suffolk.

    Managing Director, Head of Corporate Rating Advisory, Capital Markets

    Christian advises CEOs, CFOs and Treasurers with regards to capital structure optimisation, first-time credit ratings, ratings defence, credit profile optimisation and other strategic events, such as M&A and financial policy setting. Christian's team of eight advisers offers its services across multiple sectors, including corporates, public finance institutions, infrastructure funds, investment holdings and real estate companies.

    Christian previously worked at JP Morgan, Credit Suisse and RBS in various disciplines, including Rating Advisory, Leveraged Finance Origination and M & A

    Head FX Markets Solutions

    Jeremy Adam is Head of FX Market Solutions at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. He specialises in FX solutions for Lloyds Bank's mid market corporate, multinational and financial institution clients - across asset/liability exposures, deal contingent risk on major transactions and client risk management policies/procedures.

    Prior to joining Lloyds, Jeremy held similar positions at Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas and ABN Amro, primarily focusing on global FX markets, currency portfolio management and corporate treasury risk solutions.

    Jeremy is a regular speaker at industry conferences, as well as authoring thematic contributions for several financial publications. He's served on FX Advisory Committees for both US Exchange Listed and Over the Counter markets.

    Trevor Williams
    Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking

    Chief Economist

    Trevor leads the research team that supports Lloyds Bank's trading and sales activities. He joined the group after working as an economist for the UK Civil Service, a position he was offered while studying for a PhD.

    With both a BA (Hons) and a master's degree in economics, Trevor is a well-known voice within the banking sector. He regularly appears in the financial press, writing articles for publications and sharing his expertise on television.

    Trevor is also a Visiting Professor of Banking and Finance at University of Derby and a member of the Institute for Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee.

    Yuri Polyakov
    Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking

    Managing Director, Head of Financial Risk Advisory

    Yuri works extensively with corporate and public sector clients as well as financial institutions, providing strategic finance and risk management advisory services including ALM, integrated risk assessment, balance sheet and financial risk management. He has driven numerous strategic transactions and helped a number of clients to formulate their risk management strategies.

    Yuri was formerly Head of the Strategic Risk Management Group at Barclays Capital. Prior to Barclays, he headed coverage of Latin American, Asian and Australian clients at Nomura Capital Markets and Citigroup's Financial Strategies Group. He was involved in developing risk management strategies for a number of government agencies and sovereign controlled entities. Before Citigroup, Yuri was an Executive Director at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

    Yuri holds a BA (Honours) in Computer and Information Science, from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, and an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business. He has presented at numerous industry and research conferences and has co-authored a number of publications.

    Simon Shorey

    Head of Online Channels

    Simon joined Lloyds Bank in June 2014 as Head of Online Channel where he has responsibility for managing the delivery of the Commercial Digital roadmap in line with the wider Commercial Bank investment portfolio. The core purpose of this role is to build and develop a market leading Online Channel and Host to Host channel for our clients, managing the prioritisation of change and working with the IT delivery teams and business teams in order to implement those changes.

    Simon previously worked at Barclays where he developed a Social Media strategy for Barclays UK Retail bank and delivered several large scale online projects, delivering new infrastructure, software and features, from inception to delivery into the live environments.
