“Switching to Lloyds Bank was the best thing we did. Their service is second to none and the team is hugely responsive.” Steve Hartnell, Practice Manager, East Trees Health Centre

With the NHS undergoing major changes and locally-delivered services assuming greater importance, Eastville Medical Practice and Maytrees Medical Practice were keen to develop state of the art facilities, as Practice Manager, Steve Hartnell explains. “Our old health centre really wasn’t fit for purpose and we were also keen to protect ourselves in the new health market. This meant having greater control over the building, so that we could be more directive in terms of our development and create a sustainable practice model.”

Sector experience

Having seen the Lloyds Bank specialist healthcare team at networking events and industry conferences, Steve Hartnell approached them to discuss plans in more detail. “We contacted Lloyds Bank and another couple of banks, but Steve Pratt was far more knowledgeable and experienced than anyone else, so the decision to work with Lloyds Bank was straightforward.”

“My job is to support the project management of the developments,” says Steve Pratt, senior healthcare banking consultant at Lloyds Bank, who has overseen 23 GP medical centre developments during his 10 years in the role. “As part of that process, I’m on hand to support practice managers like Steve in his dealings with the NHS and the practice partners.”

Reassuring support

It’s support that Steve Hartnell found invaluable. “The Lloyds Bank team was very good at hand-holding, as well as monitoring progress on the project. Steve used his experience to help us secure good deals on fixtures and fittings and to budget. He also worked hard to create funding that would protect the practice from changing interest rates,” he remarks. “Switching to Lloyds Bank was the best thing we did. Their service is second to none and the team is hugely responsive.”
